The Maryland Trauma Center Network is proud to announce the recipients of the 2024 Trauma Nurse and EMS Awards, recognizing two exceptional healthcare professionals for their outstanding service and commitment to trauma and burn care in Maryland.
This year’s honorees are:
Mackenzie Sheperd, RN – Emergency Room Nurse at Meritus Health
Kerrie Malta – Firefighter/Paramedic serving Frederick County
These awards are given annually to highlight one Registered Nurse and one EMS clinician who exemplify excellence in clinical practice, leadership, and compassionate care in trauma or burn emergencies.
Mackenzie and Kerrie attended the MDCOT’s Point CounterPoint Conference in May 2025 to receive their awards.
